Volkswagen was one of the first brands to enter the SUV segment. First would be the Volkswagen Touareg, the Volkswagen Touareg, and years later the Volkswagen Tiguan would try to make things difficult for the King of the segment, the Nissan Qashqai. Both Volkswagen models play an important role in their respective segments.
The jump between Tiguan and Touareg may be too large as far as size is concerned and furthermore, one of the disadvantages that may appear in the compact SUV is the absence of the third row of seats. Many of their rivals offer it and although their habitability is small and their comfort is insufficient, they can get us out of a hurry at some point in time. Solving these disadvantages is presented at the Detroit Motor Show Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
This new Tiguan Allspace five-seater standard and seven optional increases the overall body length by 21.5 cm, also increasing the distance separating both axles by 11 cm; Counting then with a total length of 4.70 meters long and 2.79 meters of battle. This last fact will be the most important since the growth of 11 cm in the distance between both axes should grant a noticeably larger passenger compartment.
The remaining 10.5 cm that increases the body is in the rear overhang, increasing the load space. Those extra centimeters allow the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace to offer a boot 115 liters higher than the one of its “normal” brother, the reason why the volume of load ascends up to the 730 liters as long as the third row of seats is not used. In the second row of seats, it is also possible to fold each seat individually and move its position longitudinally to improve the space of the rear seats or the load.
Regarding the engines do not expect great news beyond that this variant will not equip the mechanics of less power that does equip the Volkswagen Tiguan. In short, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace will be available with powers between 150 and 240 hp, with manual and automatic gearboxes, and front or integral drive depending on the version.
With these dimensions and the possibility of incorporating the third row of seats, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is positioned as a direct rival for the grand launch of its Czech sister brand, ie the Skoda Kodiaq.
